The UNP today appealed to the public to come forward and provide the party with details on the attack that took place in Weliveriya. In a statement UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka stated that the government is in the process of burying the evidence and other details of the tragedy.
Attanayaka claimed that details have been unearthed that not only army personnel but also thugs of a powerful politician in the area had also attacked people during the chaos. Come forward to identify those responsible for this attack by examining the footage telecast by certain TV channels, Attanayaka added.
