Several roads in and around the Wellawatta area will be closed tomorrow (August 10) and day after tomorrow (11) in view of the Mayura Kovil Vel festival, the Police Media Spokesman stated.
Tomorrow (10) from 12 noon to 4pm, vehicles traveling from Dehiwala towards Colombo from Galle Road will be diverted left from the Ramakrishna junction in Wellawatta onto Marine Drive up to Majestic cinema where vehicles can turn back onto Galle road.
Those traveling from Colombo to Dehiwala will be able to use Galle Road, police stated.
A special traffic plan will also be implemented from 2pm tomorrow to 6pm on August 11. W.A. Silva Mawatha in Pamankada will be closed while the road connecting the Pamankada bridge to the Stafford traffic light junction will be made two-way for the time period.
If the number of devotees exceeds the expected amount, vehicles will not be allowed to exit from the Park Road junction and will be diverted along Park avenue on Baseline road and onto Havelock road.
