VIDEO: Nurse climbs tree to protest transfers

A male nurse at the Kandy General Hospital has climbed a tree in protest to the transfer of two female nurses from the hospital, the Kandy District Unit of the All Ceylon Nurses Union (ACNU) said.
A problematic situation had devolved between the doctors and nurses over a rest room of the hospital, resulting in the doctors staging a strike yesterday.
They had decided to call off the strike last night following talks held with health authorities.
However, the All Ceylon Nurses Union says that the inquiry report compiled by the Ministry of Health regarding the matter does not demand the transferring of the two nurses.
The union also accused the Health Ministry officials of acting favorably towards the doctors.
