The Government has decided to increase the quantity of fertilizer provided to paddy farmers for the 2013/2014 ‘Maha Season’ by 15 per cent over last year.
Fertilizer stocks required for this have currently been stored and are available, the Ministry of Finance and Planning said.
The government expects around 700,000 hectares of land to be cultivated for the Maha Season, and the decision to increase fertilizer was taken after considering this fact, the ministry said.
