Minister of Youth Affairs, Dullas Alahapperuma shared his gratitude towards six aspects of UN Human Rights Commissioner Navi Pillay’s statement on Sri Lanka.
He praised Pillay for bringing up several points in her speech including Sri Lanka’s hospitality, the identification of the LTTE as a terrorist organization, the acknowledgement of the development in the North and the Northern elections.
Speaking at a press conference held today (September 4) in Colombo, the Minister stated that by allowing Pillay to come to Sri Lanka a strong message regarding the democracy in the country has been delivered.
Alahapperuma also expressed his deep regret concerning statements made by Minister Mervyn Silva in which he had expressed his intentions to marry Pillay. Alahapperuma said that it was wrong and inappropriate to make such statements regarding a person who is only about two-years younger than his own mother.
