
The bribery case against former Homagama District Court Judge, Sunil Abeysinghe was postponed to November 26 when it was taken up at the Colombo Magistrate Court today (September 10).
The Bribery Commission told courts that the investigation on the incident has been concluded and that relevant report had been submitted to the legal unit.
The commission requested a separate date to inform the court of the decision taken following the analysis of the investigation report following which the court decided to call the case up on November 26.
Abeysinghe was arrested by the Bribery Commission on May 30 while allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs. 300,000 from a person in Hanwella area.
The judge had reportedly accepted the bribe in order to give a favorable ruling in a case being taken up before him.
Lakshmi Jayawickrama, Director-General, Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIAOBC) stated that the arrest was made when the judge was accepting the bribe through his security officer.
