A soldier at the Sinhapura Army camp in Welikanda died today after he accidentally shot himself in the stomach while cleaning his firearm.
The soldier was shot in the stomach when the weapon accidentally discharged in his hand, Military Spokesperson, Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said.
The deceased is said to be an unmarried army soldier from Mawathagama.
