The Health Services Director General has ordered all the Provincial and Divisional Health Services Directors to investigate and submit a report on all the companies that distribute bottled water following complaints that certain companies were selling bottled water that was not suitable for consumption.
He also directed the relevant authorities to monitor and investigate bottled-water distributors who have not registered with the Health Ministry.
Health Services DG, Dr. Palitha Maheepala stated that this racket had primarily targeted passengers on buses in Pettah while the operations of all registered water bottle companies will be investigated.
The reports will be due in two weeks according to a circular that was sent to all relevant authorities.
