
Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the armed robbery of cash and jewellery worth Rs.1.8 million in the Tissamaharama area which occurred on September 1.
The armed group had allegedly threatened a man with firearms and had stolen a sum of Rs.1,606,000 in cash as well as a gold ring worth Rs.150,000 while the Tangalle police received a complaint regarding the incident.
Police stated that four suspects in the Tissamaharama area have been arrested following an investigation.
Police also seized a Galkatas-type firearm, three cellular phones, a trishaw and a motorbike during the arrest.
The Tangalle Crimes Division is conducting further inquiries into the incident.
