Minister Dullas Alahapperuma today stated that certain foreign nations have made premature assumption regarding the election, to be held in three major provinces on Saturday.
The Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development requested all foreign nations to “please understand the difficulties faced in holding election in the Northern Province”.
He stated that until now the accusation made by foreign countries had been regarding elections not being held in the Northern Province.
Presumption made 48 hours prior to the election affects not only the entire election process in general but also the election result, he told reporters at press conference in Colombo.
He stated that the government expects a “positive involvement” from the foreign nations during a positive task in the country.
If a violation of democracy has taken place, please take it up after the election, he urged them.
