Shots fired near polling station, 4 injured

Four persons were injured in a stampede after a group fire into the air near the Kelebokka polling booth at Panvila in Kandy, the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) said.

PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that the incident had taken place this afternoon.

Meanwhile in a separate incident one person was injured and hospitalized following a clash between two groups of political supporters in the Pathadumbara area.

The injured person has been admitted to the Madolkele Hospital for treatment.

In another clash between two groups of supporters in Boralesgamuwa, Wennappuwa one person was injured and admitted to the Marawila Base Hospital.
