The name list of winning candidates at the concluded Northern, North Western and Central Provincial Council elections will be gazetted during the course of this week, the Elections Secretariat stated.
Additional Elections Commissioner R.M.L.A. Rathnayake stated that the General Secretaries of the political parties have been told to name candidates to take up the bonus seats awarded to them.
Once the returning officers hand over the official result sheets to the Elections Secretariat the Commissioner will review it and gazette the list of winning candidates.
Election observers stated meanwhile that no notable incident regarding election violence following the polls have been reported while Senior DIG in charge of election activities, Gamini Navaratne stated that there was a peaceful atmosphere following the elections.
