Kataragama Devalaya closed from tomorrow

The Kataragama Devalaya will be closed for the public from 10.30am tomorrow (28) to 6.30pm on October 2 due to the demise of the Chief Incumbent of the Kiriwehera Temple.

The Most Venerable Dr. Aluthwewa Soratha Nayaka Thero, chief incumbent of the Kataragama Kiriwehera Temple and Chancellor of the Uva Wellassa University, passed away today at the age of 70.

The Thero passed away while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo, a spokesman said.

He was also the Chief Sanganayaka of Ruhuna Magampaththuwa.
