
The Chairman of the TNA controlled Verugal Pradeshiya Sabha, who was arrested in connection with a financial fraud, has been released on bail by the Muthur Magistrate’s Court.
The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) politician was arrested following a complaint lodged over a payment he had made by way of a cheque for a tipper truck taken on hire for the construction of a sports ground.
A resident of Serunuwara had filed the complaint stating that the cheque of Rs 500,000 issued by the PS chairman to pay for the tipper truck had bounced.
The TNA member was arrested by Serunuwara Police last evening and produced before the Muthur Magistrate, who ordered him released on two personal bails of Rs 200,000 each.
