Court orders release of 31 Indian fishermen

The Trincomalee Magistrate’s Court today ordered the release of 31 Indian fishermen, arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy for crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line.
They were arrested on July 30 in Eastern seas and handed over to police for onward action.
They were produced before the Trincomalee Magistrate U.L.D. Arshad who ordered the release of the fishermen. He instructed the navy to hand over the fishermen to Indian authorities at the Maritime Boundary Line, Ada Derana reporter said.
A decision on releasing their boats would be taken on October 17.
