Two nabbed transporting empty artillery shells

Two persons have been arrested by a team of Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel while they had been illegally transporting a haul of empty artillery shells in a vehicle.
The suspects were arrested following an operation carried out according to information received by the Puwarasankulam STF camp.
They recovered 76 empty artillery 152mm shells, the steel box they were placed in, 8 steel boxes used to transport chargers, 102 empty artillery 122mm shells, 3 steel boxes they were placed in and the steel box used to transport its charger.
The lorry used to transport all these items was also taken into custody by the STF.
The suspects and items have been handed over to Vavuniya Police for onward action.
