A special discussion is to be held between Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe, MPs Karu Jayasuriya and Sajith Premadasa on Tuesday (15), to decide on several crucial issues pertaining to the United National Party’s new Supreme Council.
The party’s working committee had recently opted to appoint a Supreme Council in order to decide on the UNP’s future activities and operations.
A discussion for this was scheduled to be held last Thursday, however was postponed as Sajith Premadasa was unable to attend the meeting.
A spokesman for the party said that the aforementioned discussion will be held on Tuesday instead and that necessary arrangements have been made for this.
The composition of the Supreme Council as well as the powers vested with it are expected to be extensively discussed during the gathering.
it has already been proposed to appoint former UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya to the Chairmanship of the council.
