The Meteorology Department says that intermittent showers or thundershowers will occur over the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Galle.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island, it said.
Winds will be Southwesterly and speed will be 30-40 km/hr. The sea areas may be very rough and dangerous during thundershowers as the winds can be strengthening up to 80kmph at times, the department warned.
A severe weather advisory issued by Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology states that atmospheric disturbances which formed under the inter monsoon condition still persist in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.
Hence showery weather is expected to continue for next few days.
Showers or thundershowers will be fairly widespread with fairly heavy falls (about 150mm) also likely at some places. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, it said.
