Nine persons have been arrested for engaging in gem mining on the Menik River without proper permits. The suspects were nabbed in a raid carried out by personnel from the Kosgama Police Special Task Force (STF) camp.
The STF stated that various equipment used by the suspects to carry out the illegal mining were also taken into custody while the suspects have been handed over to Kosgama Police for further inquiries.
