The Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 24 local fishermen along with their 4 trawlers for using illegal fishing nets and engaging in poaching activities.
Navy Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya stated that the fishermen were arrested while they were fishing in seas off Trincomalee this morning.
They have been handed over to the Fisheries Department for onward action, he said.
