Eights female garment workers were hospitalized after an electric iron suddenly exploded at a factory in the Katunayake Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
Police said the workers were admitted to the Negombo Hospital due to the shock caused from the explosion. They have already been discharged from the hospital, police said.
Katunayake Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
