An elderly person was killed after a fire broke out at a residence in Kotahera, Avissawella last night.
Police said the fire erupted at around 9.45pm yesterday and that an 80-year-old man who was inside the house died in the fire.
Avissawella Police are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
