
Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the robbery of textiles worth over Rs 3.1 million from a garment factory in Kosgoda.
The main suspect in the robbery was arrested by a team of officers led by the Kosgoda OIC at Hegalla today (7) while the following interrogations the other two suspects, who are said to be friends of the main suspect, were arrested shortly after.
Textiles stocks valued at over Rs 3,169,000 were stolen from a garment factory located in Kosgoda on November 4.
Police initially arrested the chief security guard at the factory on suspicion while the remaining suspects were arrested after interrogating him, Ada Derana reporter said.
A portion of the stolen textile stocks were recovered from several shops on Pamunuwa Road, Maharagama and have been taken into custody by Kosgoda Police.
The main suspect is said to be a resident of Balapitiya while the others are from Uragaha and Mattegoda. They are to be produced at court while Kosgoda Police are conducting further investigations.
