Half centuries from TM Dilshan and Kusal Janith Perera helped Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by 8 wickets in the second and final Twenty20 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 143, Sri Lanka recovered from the early dismissal of Mahela to reach 143-2 in 17.5 overs.
An enterprising second wicket stand of 96 in 11.5 overs between Dilshan and Kusal sealed the match for Sri Lanka.
Kusal rode his luck having been dropped on 6 an 39 to make 57 off 37 balls slamming six boundaries and two sixes.
Dilshan comparatively more pedestrian with his unbeaten 59 coming off 49 balls and containing eight boundaries.
Sri Lanka win the T20 series 1-0, after the first match was washed out, and retain their top ranking.
