Colombo High Court grants bail to Tangalle PS Chairman

Colombo High Court granted bail to the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and five others over a murder of a British National on previous bail conditions while the suspects were asked to appear again on December 2.
The foreigner was assaulted and murdered by group of individuals during a party at a resort in Tangalle at around 3am on December 25, 2011. The body of the victim reportedly bore wounds inflicted using sharp objects and also gunshot wounds.
Tourists described the terrifying moments before a Red Cross worker was killed at a paradise resort. Eyewitnesses stated how the 32-year-old aid worker was randomly targeted after he became caught up in a bar brawl at a hotel in Tangalle.
Khuram Shaikh, who was a worker for the Red Cross, was holidaying in Tangalle when he was shot dead and his partner brutally assaulted.
International authorities have shared their disappointment in the manner of which the case has been handled as well as the fact that almost two years have gone by without justice for the affected families.
