Man assaulted by fmr. UC Chairman for lighting crackers

A man claims that he was assaulted by his neighbor Nihal Ananda, the former Chairman of the Peliyagoda Urban Council, for allegedly lighting firecrackers after the council’s budget was defeated.
The victim, Mohan Nalinda, says that a gang of men entered his residence last night and carried out the assault for allegedly lighting firecrackers due to the Peliyagoda Urban Council’s budget being defeated.
The vote on the budget was held at the Peliyagoda Urban Council yesterday (28) and it was defeated with six members voting against and only 3 voting for it.
Nihal Ananda lost his post as the UC Chairman due to the budget being defeated for the second time. He, however, completely rejects all accusations against him.
