The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has announced that power cuts will continue today (21) in four zones across the island as part of measures to manage electricity demand.
PUCSL Director of Corporate Communications Jayanath Herath stated that electricity supply would be interrupted for one hour in each zone between 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The commission approved the power cut proposal submitted by the National System Operations (Private) Limited on October 19.
Meanwhile, Electricity Consumers’ Association Chairman M.D.R. Athula stated that although the scheduled power interruptions were announced as lasting one hour, certain areas had experienced power cuts exceeding five hours.
