In connection with the investigation into the assassination of an attorney-at-law and his wife in a parking lot within the Thalangama Police Division on February 13, 2026, investigating officers have seized a bus suspected of having been used to transport the shooter involved in the crime.
The seizure was made during an investigation conducted by the Western Province South Crimes Division.
Subsequently, an inquiry into the bus conducted by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division revealed that the vehicle had been purchased using proceeds from drug trafficking.
Accordingly, steps have been taken to freeze the asset for a period of 14 days, effective from October 23, 2026.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division.
