All three generating units at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant have been successfully reconnected to the national grid following their shutdown in the wake of the islandwide power outage on October 17.
The three units were taken offline following the sudden, islandwide power failure that occurred on that date.
Meanwhile, the National System Operator (Pvt) Ltd. had previously stated that, as a precautionary measure following the emergency breakdown, the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant would remain disconnected from the national grid for several days.
In a statement, the company explained that the decision was made in accordance with standard safety protocols observed during such emergencies.
However, steps have since been taken to reactivate all three generating units and reconnect them to the national grid.
