The suspended Officer-in-Charge of the Crime Division of Homagama Police, who was arrested in connection with the death of a suspect while in police custody, is scheduled to be produced before court today (29).
The 32-year-old officer, a resident of Ballapitiya, Horana, was arrested last afternoon (28) by officers of the Western Province South Divisional Crime Investigation Division.
The arrest was made as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of the suspect in police custody.
In connection with the incident, three police officers, including the Crime Division OIC, were suspended from service with effect from October 26.
Police confirmed that the investigation is being conducted by the Western Province South Divisional Crime Investigation Division.
