Man charged with abducting, raping wife’s sister

Kalpitiya Police has arrested 26-year-old suspect who allegedly abducted his 15-year-old sister-in-law from the care of her parents and raped her.
The suspect in question had visited the residence of his in-laws at Narakkalliya in Norochchola on October 23 had engaged in an extramarital relationship with his wife’s younger sister.
Later the suspect and the girl had reportedly runaway together, resulting in her parents filing a complaint with Kalpitiya Police.
Police arrested both the suspect and the underage girl, who has been admitted to the Kalpitiya Hospital for a medical test.
The arrested suspect is to be produced at the Puttalam District Court while Kalpitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
