Former Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, who was remanded for failing to appear in court for a trial after being released on bail over corruption charges, has been ordered to be released on bail by the Colombo High Court.
The order was issued by Colombo High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela, said Ada Derana reporter.
However, as he was unable to fulfil the bail conditions, Bogollagama was taken back into prison custody and taken to prison.
Meanwhile, the High Court Judge rejected a request made by the defence lawyers to release the accused without calling for a defence statement and ordered the defence to present its evidence.
