Met Dept forecasts strong winds and heavy rain

Under the influence of atmospheric disturbance to the South-east of Sri Lanka, windy conditions over the island and suburb sea areas and heavy showers off the south eastern coast are expected, the Met Department said today.
A severe weather advisory issued by Early Warning Centre states that there will be intermittent showers or thundershowers in the sea area off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota.
The sea area off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota will be rough as the wind can be strengthening up to 70 kmph at times. The other sea areas around the island may also be rough at times as the wind can be strengthening up to 60kmph at times.
