Sri Lanka Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) have seized 39 drones and 16 microphones allegedly brought into the country without the required authorisations by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Nalin Bandara.

Customs Media Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa confirmed that the items were taken into custody by airport Customs officers this morning (08).

He stated that the drones had been brought into the country without the necessary import licences, approval from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), or authorisation from the Ministry of Defence.

MP Nalin Bandara had arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at 11.23 a.m., aboard SriLankan Airlines flight from Singapore.
Airport Customs officials are conducting further investigations into the incident.
