UPFA Pradeshiya Sabha members who voted against their respective PS budgets will have their membership revoked following disciplinary action taken by their respective parties, the UPFA stated.
The respective member-parties will be informed of those who voted against the budgets and following the party’s disciplinary action, the members will be expelled from the UPFA while the Elections Commissioner will be notified of the expulsions.
In an official statement released today, the UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha stated that in the UPFA-controlled Pradeshiya Sabhas where the budget was defeated twice, the next PS Chairman will be selected from the UPFA members who voted in favour of the budget as there is no regulation that demands that the Deputy Chairman must always be appointed the new Chairman.
The new appointees will be chosen on the recommendation of their respective party Secretaries.
Furthermore, the UPFA also stated that strict disciplinary action will be taken against the members who went against the counsel of their respective parties and voted against the budget.
