
The Police are implementing a 24-hour special operation to apprehend drunken drivers from today (December 24) and will continue for two weeks, the Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated.
The operation will be carried out during the festive season to cover the whole island while drivers found under the influence of liquor will not be granted police bail.
According to the Police, the operation has been launches due to an increase in the number of accidents during the festive season owing to drunk drivers.
A total of 1,671 accidents have been reported so far this year.
