
A person was arrested at the Katunayake International Airport today while attempting to smuggle 5 pieces of gold, weighing nearly 400grams, to India by concealing them in his luggage.
The suspect was arrested by airport customs officers while he was preparing to board a flight to Chennai this morning.
Customs officers say the 5 gold pieces, weighing 390 grams and worth around Rs 2 million, was skillfully concealed inside the suspect’s luggage.
Airport customs office is conducting further investigations.
