Talks between Sri Lanka and the US regarding the import of crude oil from Iran have not been successful, the Petroleum Ministry stated.
The Ministry claimed that despite holding discussions with the US authorities, the two parties could not come to an agreement.
Although the US is slowly loosening the embargo on Iran, it still imposes a stringent ban on oil exports.
The government of Sri Lanka however requested Iranian imports of crude oil in order to begin refining operations at the Sapugaskanda refinery.
