Two suspects accused of molesting a 15-year-old girl who ran away from the Awanthidevi Children’s Home in Anuradhapura were remanded until January 7 on a court order.
The Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Court judge Ruwandhika Marapana gave the order.
On December 19, a 16-year-old and two 15-year-old girls ran away from the Awanthidevi Children’s Home while one of the girls was allegedly taken in the Yatawatta area of Matale by the two suspects and molested.
The Women and Children Division of the Anuradhapura Police arrested the two suspects while the three girls had told police that they ran away from the home due to various abuses they suffered while they were there.
The court also ordered that the three girls including the victim be taken to a home for young girls in Saliyapura.
Medical reports on the three girls have been ordered by the court.
