Investigation on Mannar mass grave handed over to CID

The investigation concerning the Mannar mass grave has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), police reported.

 

Police Spokesman, SSP Ajith Rohana stated that excavation work on the mass grave site is still ongoing while remains from a further three bodies were found yesterday (January 22) which increases the total number of bodies to 42.

 

A group of workers engaged in road construction work had discovered the skeletal remains and proceeded to inform the Mannar Police Station regarding the find.
