A Buddhist monk of a temple in Panadura has lodged a complaint with police alleging that an unknown gunman had opened fire at him while he was in the temple last night.
Pothupitiye Pagnasekara Thero, from Ratnapura, says he had been watching television at around 10.00pm yesterday when he heard a noise and stepped out to investigate.
The Thero then witnessed a person dressed in black outside the temple and due to a suspicious hurried back inside the temple’s living quarters and closed the door when he heard the firing of the gun.
However, the Police Spokesman’s Office stated that the bullet had struck the window and that the monk was unharmed.
