A member of the Yatiyantota Pradeshiya Sabha who was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital after he set himself ablaze has succumbed to injuries, police said.
The UPFA member, Upul Sisira Kumara had attempted to commit self immolation at around 7.00pm last night and was rushed to hospital, Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana.
It has been reported that he had committed suicide due to debts.
