Wennappuwa Police says it has launched an investigation to arrest two suspects allegedly involved in attacking and injuring a 20-year-old youth, who had been returning home after work, with a sword before stealing Rs 5,000 from him.
The victim, Thiwanka Nimesh, from Wennappuwa, has been admitted to the Marawila Base Hospital with severe injuries.
He had lodged a complaint with police stating that when he was returning home last evening two men had approached him near Kate Junction in Bandirippuwa and assaulted him with their hands and feet before attacking him with a sword.
They had then proceeded to steal the victim’s wallet before fleeing.
The suspects have not been arrested yet, however Wennappuwa Police are conducting further investigations.
