The United Nations stated that it is ultimately up to the member states to determine whether there will be an international process regarding the alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka.
Speaking to the press, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon’s Deputy Spokesman, Farhan Haq told foreign media that there continues to be a need for all the facts to be learnt and for there to be a study of whether there’s any wrongdoing that’s occurred in the course of the final phases of the Sri Lankan conflict.
He claimed though that it is ultimately up to the international member states to determine whether there will be an international process.
He added that the UN has presented the member states with the relevant information while making it clear what it believes is the need for accountability in Sri Lanka.
