
A Pakistani national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport with a haul of heroin worth nearly Rs. 10 million hidden inside oranges, Sri Lanka Customs said.
The 64-year-old man was arrested officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Unit last night after he arrived from Karachchi by flight UL 184.
Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini stated that the approximately 984 grams of heroin were found concealed inside 12 oranges, which were among 72 oranges in a nylon poly sack.
The heroin was packed inside polythene packets, each weighing 80 grams.
The suspect and drugs have been handed over to Police Narcotics Bureau following the Customs inquiry held by the Deputy Director of Customs.
