
A Pakistani national who attempted to smuggle a large sum of undeclared foreign currency into the country has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, a spokesman said.
Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini stated that the Pakistani man had arrived from Karachi last night and that he had cleverly concealed the currency notes in his body and under his garments.
Around 1.5 million Indian rupees in total was found in his possession, he said.
Airport customs is conducting further investigations regarding the suspect.
