Around 200 acres of land was destroyed in a fire that spread through the Dekinda Wavegama preserve in Nawalapitiya while steps are being taken to bring the fire under control.
Officials of the Nawalapitiya Wildlife office along with residents of the area have taken measures to douse the spreading fire.
Reports indicate that due to the dry weather, the fire has become difficult to control.
