UNP has submitted a no confidence motion in parliament against the government over the drug issue. On May 7, 2013 a no confidence motion brought forward by the UNP against Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera was defeated in parliament by 104 votes.
136 MPs voted against the motion while 32 voted in support of it.
