Child run over by van dies

A one-year-old child died after being run over by a van in the Wethtthewa area in Galagedara.
Police said the van had been parked in the garden of a residence and that it had suddenly moved and run over the child due to a malfunctioning of the brakes.
The boy was rushed to the Galagedara Hospital with critical injuries, however was pronounced dead on admittance.
The body has been placed in the hospital’s mortuary while the postmortem examination is to be conducted today.
