Suspended police sergeant commits suicide

A Sergeant attached to the Ududumbara Police Station, who was temporarily suspended from the service recently, has committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Denapitiya, Hunnasgiriya.
Police said the actual reason behind the 45-year-old officer’s decision to commit suicide last night has not been determined yet.
However, it is said that he had been temporarily suspended by the police department in January this year for allegedly consuming alcohol while on duty.
